Tsonga
Nestled at the foot of the Drakensberg mountains in the Kingdom of the Zulu, lies a peaceful village rich in untainted African heritage. Here, in this picturesque farming district, live the village craft women, who form part of the age-old heritage of traditional shoecraft. In an area with high levels of unemployment, these women have been given a valuable employment opportunity and a chance to practice the time-honoured custom of hand-stitching. In a time when many such communities are crumbling, this little village has remained closely knit, with a sense of brotherhood and culture that is the essence of their very existence. Not content with merely providing employment, Tsonga also assists in educating and uplifting the community with outreach programmes aimed at improving the quality of life of every individual. The tribal chief has little doubt over the role Tsonga has played in his tribe's rejuvenation, and believes the employment offered has truly been a blessing from the ancestors. Cut from some of the finest leather in the world, Tsonga's leather uppers are stitched to their unique soles by the village craft women. Grateful for the employment opportunity, they reciprocate by stitching a little bit of African soul into every shoe they finish, ensuring they are not the only ones touched by the spirit of Tsonga. Available in a wide range of styles and colours, Tsonga shoes are the epitome of comfort.
